Nathan Asher & The Infantry- Sex Without Love
Posted March 18, 2006 — in Reviews
Nathan Asher and The Infantry are like an exceedingly more tolerable version of Bright Eyes or Ryan Adams with all the brilliance of reflective singer/songwriter rock without the obnoxious pretension. Drawing more similarities to classic heartland rock greats like Bruce Springsteen or Rhett Miller, Nathan Asher and The Infantry’s latest effort Sex Without Love has all the makings of an indie/underground hit with the accessibility for mainstream success. No matter your taste in music, a great song is a great song is a great song, and Sex Without Love has more than a couple of them. (4.95/5)
These guys are from my hometown. I’m not sure how they got on here, but nice job. It’s good to see someone is catching on, they’re brilliant and huge here.

I’m trying to understand why no major label, or top indie label, would not sign Johnny Rushmore a.k.a. Johnny Tsak. I know after the death of Stevie Ray Vaughn everyone thought that would be the end of the blues. Well, Johnny Rushmore was Stevie Ray Vaughn meets Jimmy Page all wrapped into one. The last time I spoke with Johnny he ‘found God’ and wasn’t interested in the music business at all. I feel the record labels lost a great guitarist and human to the music world, because of passing him by. I know for a fact Johnny had it rough, to sat the least, in my eyes the record labels could have made quite a few of his dreams come true! I believe Johnny Rushmore will never return to the music scene, but to just have one of his cd’s is a statement in itself. I hope Johnny will get a chance to read this, or someone will pass it onto him, because he deserves this and so much more. I will end this bu saying, Johnny Rushmore a.k.a. Johnny Tsak….God Bless You for whenever you are! Your Friend Always, Jim Allford

I know Johny and let me tell you he was singed to Warner Bros. and some how they had a falling out. If you can get a copy of the CD Power Trio From HEll you will hear some really fine work. Johny is a complex person and very kind. He can get a bit scared of the world some times and I think thats why he does not want to play now. But in my book he is great. I hope some day he will realize that its ok to play and serve God too. Johny if you see this I love you buddy, hope you are doing ok.
Joe… The only bass player that said no to him and I never stopped regretting it…

Johhny’s coming back. He’s building Rushmore custom guitars now. Watch ebay and you’ll see some fine work.
I also played an open night mic with him in Falls Church on June 16th for the 10-12 people that were there. Brian Fox, bass player for PTH, showed up shortly there after but too late to play.
Net, I think you’ll see Johnny back playing but HE will be different. His playing is still great but there are lines he won’t cross any longer. That’s respectable.
And remember, you can always hear him play at church!!!

Johnny is back playing at Jimmy’s Tavern in Herndon, VA! He’s been through some hard times and heart break recently while spending a few months in Atlanta…. but he is back, he still has God, and his playing is as awesome as ever!
