Sad news for Wind Up about Alter Bridge, but I think its the best for the band. Wind-Up knows how to find great bands, they just don't know what to do with them once they sign them.

Victory is great at marketing, especially in New Media. They're a hype machine. I don't know if I would say they can turn garbage into gold though. They have been signing bands that all kind of sound they same and work them in identical fashions. It's really not that difficult. They more or less 'own the scene' so I can't imagine it being that hard to introduce a new band to the people who already own 20 copies of it under various names, but under the same label.

If they were able to take the bands that DIDN'T all sound the same and make them sell, then that would be something noteworthy. They have a number of bands on their label that haven't really sold well and were barely a blip on the public radar at the peak of their PR push. There's no magic to what Victory does, but that's not to say they aren't good at what they do.
