KOAR Mixed: “Hoes” and “Bitches”
Posted June 12, 2006 — in Music News

Interesting article here titled “Exploitative music industry erasing hard-fought respect won by women“. Women are consistently referred to as “hoes” and “bitches” in a countless number of hip-hop songs, to the point that it’s becoming a standard for many of these songs. Male musicians are making it clear through their lyrics and videos what they think of women.
In 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P” video, women are not only shown in bikinis and stilettos, but they’re also being walked on leashes. Furthermore, the female musicians that serve as pop culture role models only contribute to the degradation of women. Their hits never seem to range further than cheesy love songs and boyfriends trouble. For instance, the Pussycat Dolls’ catchy song “Doncha” may seem to display their confidence and values as women. But what do we value when the lyrics are: “Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?” And popular Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie demonstrated her power in the song “My Humps,” in which she boasts that her humps and lumps have the ability to get men to buy her designer brands.
The Lillith Fair days are long gone and was replaced by Rapestock 99. Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, and Heather Nova are gone as well. Who would have guessed……
heather nova!

Gotta agree with that, IMO, strip clubs are far less degrading to women than Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliot, Christina Aguilera and all of the other stupid “divas” which create mass followings of mindless zombies obsessed with stupid make up, fashion, money and other assets of materialism.
But hey, they keep the economy going, so everyone up top’s happy

Holly Brook is the voice for the new age of women in music. She was featured on Fort Minor’s song “Where’d You Go” and just released her own CD on Machine Shop Records which is Linkin Park’s imprint under Warner Bros. Watch that girl, because I know she’s going to bring the industry to a new level.

Tori Amos hasn’t gone anywhere. Her albums still debut in the top ten on the billboard charts.
