<description>Hi, My name is Giuseppe, and I am a singer/songwriter. I have a question in regards to cowriting. I wrote a song, music and lyrics. Once I was done, I hired a producer to coproduce my song with. In the first session he said that we should change the structure of the song a little bit, so this is what we did:

-he took out the last 2 lines from the verse and he had me repeat the melody of the first 2 lines of the verse.(the melody I wrote)
- he said that the first line of the chorus should be slightly changed so he started playing with some chords and I came up with a slightly different melody for the first line of the chorus.

Now he is saying that he contributed to the creation of the melody of the song and he wants 25%.
What exactly is the borderline between being a producer and being a cowriter?
If it's too much for you to answer, where could I get information on this subject?
Thank you very much.
