The thing is today’s youth are more into content creation than content consumption! Their attitude is that they can create better music/videos/etc. than the “Industry” can all day long…With cheaper moe powerful computers at hand that’s exactly what they are in to doing…So why buy someone elses experiences when they can sell you theirs?

any company that opens it’s doors every morning takes a risk.a company is only as good as it’s employees.labels have dug their own grave.why is it that inde labels like RoadRunner,CentryMedia,Metal Blade,Victory records can have success and majors cry broke?A&R learn to do your home work

Lyor’s most poignant comments were not those about establishing an A&R driven company (which is also important) but rather, about RISK-TAKING.

Without risk, the potential rewards are limited. Unfortunately, the industry is in a state where A&R risk-taking is nearly impossible given the need for companies to establish (if not maintain) quarterly profits. In 2006, those with the real AUTHORITY to give the green light on an artist are those that aren’t in the clubs. Sad, but true…

now you know why bands sign with inde labels.you guys talk the game but sign the same crap that everyone else does.hire an a&r person that will spend more than 5 minutes at a show then they may find some real talent.and try this instead of wanting some buddy to tell you about a band how about getting your a&r people of their lazy asses and go out and(this may be a radical idea)FIND some real talent…..
