KOAR Industry News

803887882_m.jpg Tila Tequila who is best known for her appearances in Stuff, Maxim, and as a host of the FUSE TV show Pants-Off Dance-Off has failed to move digital sales. She also was the most popular person on Myspace with close to 2 million friends. So why are her virtual friends leaving this singing sensation behind? Possibly because the song “I Love U” aint a HIT and her virtual friends would rather see her in  leather lingerie rather than holding a mic getting jiggy with it. This isn’t brain surgery, and coming out to the PUBLIC with a G- string riding up your ass won’t strike a 40 million dollar deal with Vegas. If you really want to convince yourself that it is a business model problem rather than an artistic issue then read a further breakdown of the sales here.

The Used is streaming new music here. I don’t mind the band, but this won’t take them to the next level.

You may want to pick up the UK’s Kaiser Chiefs new record Yours Truly, Angry Mob which was released on Feb. 27th. The first single Ruby is a great track. Actually, just download the single from I Tunes, after streaming the whole record it was kind of ehh.

Warner Music Group stock continues to plummet ………..

And…….

Southern California based rock pop band Ozma have signed with About A Girl Records (distributed by Sony) to release their next record in North America. Legal is Ben Mclane and management is Gary Spivak.

KOAR will be posting a bunch of “NEW” artists soon.

Lastly…..

Senate Chief is skeptical of Sirius deal….The proposed merger between Sirius and XM may be great for ’shareholders’ but the fabulous monopoly could be a bad deal for the consumers.

  1. I love this Tila shit. And the good news are, no label will ever try to sign her again, after she failed on her own, with her cocky “i-can-do-it-on-my-own” attitude. Wonder how many record executives are laughing their asses off now.

Tila will be done with music after this album, just like Paris. Maybe they should both do a little porn flick. Would probably generate more sales than their “music”.

  2. I’m convinced The Used want to emulate My Chemical Romance’s dramatic effect and Panic! At the Disco’s strings in the song. Not that any of these bands were the first to incorporate these musical elements but The Used knows their competition and is thinking “when you can’t beat em, join em.”

Love the single “Ruby” from Kaiser Chiefs but I figured the rest of the songs on the album wouldn’t have an impact on me. Been a long time since I bought a sraight up rock n’ roll album that hit the charts.

  3. KOAR loves the single “Ruby” as well. Not supringsly, its the highest charting single they had, reaching £1 on the UK charts. To bad the rest of the album doesnt add up.

    Regardless, the track is GREAT.

and yes, we really like the USED, but they are a commerical dissapointment. Don’t think the USED can write the songs that will take them to next level into arenas. But they do put on an intensive live show.

  4. I think the new kaiser album takes some time to get into. i didn’t really like as much as employment, but then the more i listened to it, the more i liked it.

  5. Wonder how many record executives hope they didn’t catch anything…myspace..Starbucks…we need more big buisness in music.as with myspace between the perverts and the 9 year olds big buying public would you think?

  6. The Used played arenas as part of the latest Taste of Chaos tour, albeit a package tour with many more popular bands that bring in all the kids from around the city they visit. But they did!

  7. The Used track - totally a MCR bid. The chord progressions in the choruses? Heard em a thousand times.

  9. I once got a gold star in Kindergarten for not peeing my pants….
    who cares….
all these 30 seconds to a chemicaly used romance bands are going down like a hooker on Friday night street corner…..
    sales are sales…….numbers are numbers
right …isnt that what an A&R guys says, whats the numbers…they just do NOT add up to the investment thier respective labels are making…
If I spent a million dollars marketing something it BETTER sell 200,000 copies, otherwise its bad business

  11. Just saw The Used at taste of chaos, and they are pretty much the leaders in a dying genre. i think they are pretty good, but people are over them and that style of music. tons of people where i live are listening to old CD’s from Linkin Park, POD, and more, because everything new sounds the same……and the little bit that is original, is crap. sad but true.
