The recent firing of Don Imus has created an uproar as KOAR predicted. Russell Simmons will be holding a ‘closed door’ meeting with artists and executives from the Hip-Hop/urban community to discuss the future of Hip-Hop and how the genre can be moved forward in a positive direction. Sources told AllHipHop.com that the invitation only meeting takes place on Wednesday (Apr.18) at Lyor Cohen’s Manhattan residence.

  1. What they haven’t made explicitly clear at the moment is: Is the 8,400 half-hour slots required of each station or each broadcasting company??? Very curious to see how Joe Musician is going to get shafted.

  3. I’ve met Barak Obama, twice, and I know for a fact he doesn’t make insulting remarks like your edited photo w/ Ludacris infers. This site is some what biggitted at times. You might want to watch it as you continue to loose creditability!

  4. “I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus,” Obama told ABC News, “but I would also say that there’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude.”

this photo we found on the Daily Gut website might implicate Obama as being guilty of a little hypocrisy on the matter. What say you?

I’m sure Obama has never even heard any of Ludacris’s music, or else he’d condemn it and call for the man to lose his job, just like he did with Imus.

Florence, S.C. —- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday questioned the way some rappers refer to women, saying the lyrics are similar to the derogatory language used by fired radio talk show host Don Imus.

They are “degrading their sisters. That doesn’t inspire me,” the Illinois senator said as he responded to a question at a town hall meeting that drew about 1,000 people.

Earlier this week, Obama criticized Imus, who was fired Thursday for labeling the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos.”

“I do think we’ve seen a coarsening of the culture,” Obama said in an interview after Friday’s appearaance.

As a constitutional lawyer, Obama said he is a free speech advocate.

“But just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should say something,” he said. “And I think that we have not talked enough about the harmful images and messages that are sent.”

He said as a parent it was a constant struggle to reinforce his two daughters’ sense of self-esteem.

“I think that all of us have become a little complicit in this kind of relaxed attitude toward some pretty offensive things,” Obama said. “And I hope this prompts some self-reflection on the part of all of us.”

  6. It’s like Sharpton and Jackson now going after rap music. That’s to give them street cred when they come back after awhile, because they don’t want to cause a backlash. I mean, it’s going to be awhile before they zero in. Well, I know he’s got his list ready, Mr. Snerdley. Sharpton has his list ready, but they’re going to give it some time. They don’t want to create too big of a backlash. They’ll go after rap music. They’ll make a show of going after rap music to give them street cred, and then the Media Matters types will say, “Hey, what is this allegation that we’re out there trying to target conservatives? Look at Imus! He was liberal. We don’t care.” Yeah, well, find all the other liberal hate speech on that website they chronicle. You won’t. Thanks for the call out there, Ron.
