Networks go on blitz for Web hits; CBS, Fox, NBC adopt online strategies…
Three of the Big Four networks will be launching online syndication services designed to distribute their top shows into cyberspace. They need to get their shows out in front of the 80 million-100 million users who flock to such Web titans as Yahoo, MSN and AOL each month. Also online sources continue to pull ad dollars away from traditional TV
XM and Sirius…..
The possible XM and Sirius merger has been in and out of the press, but today we here the FCC formally opens XM-Sirius merger review.
Caffeine Pusher Starbucks searching for the next Supah Star…

Starbucks has an unsigned artist competition. BUT its not open to bands. Its open to solo artists, duo’s, and trio’s. Sounds a little blah….
Southern California based alternative rock band Nural have signed to a joint venture deal between Atlantic Records and Hopeless Records, and will begin recording their Atlantic/Hopeless album soon (with later recordings to be released solely via Atlantic. Legal rep is Ben McLane and management is Ken Kaldenbach and John Kang
One Less Reason front man Chris Brown gets a citation from local authorities in Atlanta Georgia for profanity and inciting a riot during a recent gig.
Marilyn Manson brands My Chemical Romance as sad and pitiful..

In an interview with The London Paper he revealed that the song ‘Mutilation Is The Most Sincere Form Of Flattery’, from his new album ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’, is about Gerard Way’s outfit. He elaborated on his attack on the band, saying, “I’m embarrassed to be me because these people are doing a really sad, pitiful, shallow version of what I’ve done.
“If they want to identify with me then here’s a razor blade. Call me when you’re done and we’ll talk.”
Manson, a former journalist himself always makes press interesting.

Much promps to MM!!! MCR is a terrible band, unbelievable they ever landed a deal to begin with!!
my band played with Nural a bunch of times and they are really good. Amazing singer.
I always thought they were under-rated.
DB
props^^^^ sorry.
What a weak One Less Reason plug… is this site now turning into a gossip blog like perezhilton.com ? I hope not, even tho OLR still should get signed.
Talking about perezhilton.com, let me quote his blog
———-
On declining an offer of $10 million by Clive Davis to ditch five of her songs for more radio-friendly picks of his choosing:
“I am a good singer, so I can’t possibly be a good writer. Women can’t possibly be good at two things. I haven’t lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I’ll just work harder.”
———-
Anybody can confirm that Clive made this offer? This seems outrageous.
As much of a Manson fan as I am (mostly Mechanical Animals), this is a pot calling the kettle black situation. Gerard Way’s response was pretty spot on:
We still haven’t found someone that has knocked us down that we need to take seriously. If Elvis Costello said we sucked we would think about it a bit but usually it is comments from someone with a new record to promote so the remarks ring hollow.
Re the Clive Davis and Kelly thing. It’s in the new ELLE Magazine. Clive offered Kelly 10 million bucks to ditch 5 of her own songs and record songs of Dr.Luke! She declined. I LOVE THIS CHICK!
On the OLR thing:
It’s more than apparent to me that not only was it a shameless plug, but also a ploy to “link” up a previous post talking about ‘where all the rock stars are at…’
Now I ask myself, whats the real reason behind KOAR pushing OLR (in this manner)? I also remember KOAR posting News were they stated that OLR is apparently making 5k per month on downloads alone. WHAT A LIE!!!!! I doubt they’re even making 1k on downloads KOAR is really desperately trying to push this act, and its not even necessary. That one piano ballad they have has smash written all over it, no need to force it on the industry. The right company will pick this up. Just give it time.
OLR is managed by KOAR from what I heard on myspace?
I see a Dan Friedman connection to most stuff KOAR pushes. Are they represented by him?

I am sure we will get a deal as well…. and I dont say that out of cockyness or whatever. We have just put the work in. And yes i have done as high as $14,000 in digital downloads in a two month period as well as we are on target to having our first $20,000 month in show
gaurantees. Its just a work ethic. This is what we do from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed….That is why we are good for 500 to 1000 people in 10+ markets. And dont take this as a ” we are better than u attitude” but more as of a ” you can do this on your own and dont have to have a label to make a living playing music” It’s a notion everyone better get ready to deal with because labels are falling to the waysaide. Either fall with them or take over the market that they are too dumb to keep control of.
Wah! My name is MM and my chem sells more records than me![/cry]
Is manson seriously trying to take credit for the “dark look?”
Christ… .
P.S. I’ve been a manson fan since middle school. Yes, I even like the new stuff.
Have you people seen how many heads OLR puts in a venue? Can you name one independent band that can do that in multiple cities and not just their hometown? Why such the hatred for OLR? From what i have read here at Kings of A&R the bands that people trash are the bands touring their asses off selling records! So i guess OLR will be just as big if not bigger than the most hated bands here that actually make money! People if you want it get off ur ass and go get it!! It’s not gonna find you in a practice room or gigging 4 shows a month.
What about the bands that have hits (claim by A&Rs) and are unsigned, touring, selling out venues, and have radio rotation with limited attention from the top judges at the label? Just a bad market eh? haha
Upside has the kind of draw One Less Reason has, and tour 200-300 days a year (every year)
MM..i respect you and all…but MCR are not in anyway like you!
