Warner takes over EMI in market share while Universal Music remains the leader with a 25.7 percent in 2006 for physical and digital music markets. (Reuters)
Also, Warner Music confirmed that it has “decided not to make an offer for EMI” at this time.
Sony’s Sir Howard Stringer used the word ‘greed’ to describe Apple CEO Steve Jobs. According to one audience member, Stringer said it’s funny that Jobs accuses record companies of greed because they want to get paid for music downloads. Stringer said Jobs, who just launched the iPhone, is the “greedy” one because he wants a world where only he makes money. (NY POST)
As odd as it seems - the singing sensation Paris Hilton wants to return to the studio and give it another go ’round. She reportedly signed up for vocal lessons. The press and publicity stints for the famous for being famous and socialites are slowing dying. It’s less interesting.

Exceptional numbers for Paramore - they’re really taking off and I can’t think of a band that deserves it more.

The Paramore record is really good. Interpol is mediocre, kind of bland.
I haven’t listened to Velvet Revolver yet. First single is OK, hopefully they have better album tracks.
Need to listen to the Pumpkins as well. If anyone that picked up, let me know your thoughts…

The drums on the new Pumpkin’s record are massive and hard hitting. Corgan’s vox sound a bit removed. It is a good spin though. Amazing live band(long sets, writing songs on the day of +).

The vocal mix on the new Pumpkin is terrible.
It’s like they mix the entire record and just put the unmixed vocal tracks over the songs. They tried to recreate the grunge sound of the 90’s but failed miserably.

Interpol’s new album is disappointing; it makes me want to listen to TOTBL. Opening week sales not even 11K more than Antics.
Check out Spoon’s album… good stuff.

Interpol should choose to go back to an indie label. They were more elusive there and they would sell about the same number of CDs if the stuck with underground. I don’t think they get radio play. (At least I haven’t heard any.) Unless the contract is 100x better, I’d go back to indie. They’re not a mainstream band. From what I’ve heard, they tried to be with the new record. All I can say is, money killed the indie star.
