Mute Math Moves Mountains…..

Check out Mute Math performing the track Typical completely backwards, a concept the Louisiana quartet conceived, rehearsed and executed in three weeks. Mute Math are exciting to watch as they encompass and interpret the music as it sounds and how it should feel. Mute Math is a multi dimensional artist that KOAR described in a previous post.

I agree. Very unique and exciting to watch, never saw anything like this. I knew this band would Hit.

  3. Rachel says:

I have been folowing the Mute Math story for a long time. The whole drama with Warner Brothers. These guys are hardworking and never relied on anybody but themselves. True Winners.

  4. Dave says:

Saw them a couple weeks ago. These guys have everything to be successful. Amazing live show, great songs. They just need to fine tune their sound and they can definitely sell a lot of albums and have a long career.

  5. Rich says:

This band is christian too. They have a built in life style. They could be a career band. They do very well on the road.

  6. Lizz says:

I saw this performance and was speechless.

  10. michelle says:

Saw Mute Math last year. Truely amazing live show.

  11. Tim Towner says:

During Warped Tour ‘06, I would drop whatever I was doing, at the time, to watch them play, every single day.

When you looked around the audience, you saw a ton of laminates. They were definitely THE Warped Tour band of 2006.

  12. koar says:

Amazing performance at the WARPED TOUR!

  13. D says:

Good Pop. Like Muse alot better though.

Good song yes. Forgettable yes. Timeless? No.

  14. Dave says:

I wouldn’t say they’re a lot better than Muse. Different style but they could have the same career. Neither band are at their peak yet.

  15. Amanda says:

I agree Dave, i think Muse and Mute Math are completely different. It comes down to personal preference. And Yes, both bands have room for growth. I love them both.

    …….Amanda

  16. Bobby says:

Its a matter of time before Mute Math his the mainstream. The clock is ticking. Thanks for posting this video KOAR, I added to my myspace profile.

  17. melissa says:

Now this is creative. Its about time a new band pushes the envelope. Music is beat today, but I am going to pick up this record. Thanks for introducing me to this band.

  18. A2daC says:

I admit it is a good song. Although, I’ve heard it far too many times from playing the videogame ATV Offroad Fury 4 for PS2. Yes their music is already in a videogame. Their other songs are pretty good.

You think they would’ve taken the audio from a concert or studio performance for the kimmel “performance” to go with all the hard work in the choreography? Nope just some dubbed audience noise.

  19. Stu Gots says:

…AND they rock for the Lord!

  20. Tim Towner says:

They have also been playing sold out club dates for years, now. They’ve been building an underground fanbase for years.

They have worked hard and it’s good that people are starting to recognize them.

  21. jalan says:

I dig this band (despite them ‘rocking for the Lord’) and am thankful to KOAR for introducing me to them, but I’m going to be one of the few dissenting voices to say that lip-synching and overt choreography (no matter how creative) is for ‘pop tarts’ who can’t actually sing or play.

As KOAR often suggests, we need rock stars! If you’re a rock band taping before a live audience, then captivate the audience with a genuine, energetic LIVE performance. Isn’t that the point of going on these sort of shows? From what I’ve seen and heard, MM has an incredible live show, so instead of actually tearing it up in front of an audience of millions, you lip-synch through your music video? Give that same performance LIVE, not in reverse, and you’ve impressed a whole helluva lot more people, IMHO.

It was a great idea for their video, but not so much for their ‘live’ performance. Just my two cents…

  22. michaelm says:

one of the best bands out there right now. great songs, great performers, great innovators. they kick my ass. go support them and treat yourself by seeing them live.

  23. Lindsey says:

In response to Jalan’s post above… they actually already performed this song live on Jimmy Kimmel in the normal performance style. For their second appearance they decided to switch it up and do something that’s never been done before. They didn’t NEED to lip sync, they really can do it all :) I really hope this band breaks… one of the best live bands I’ve seen in a long time.

Here is the video of their first performance on Kimmel:

Make sure you watch until the end when they break the lights and subsequently the keytar…
