Coheed & Cambria new album, No World for Tomorrow, hit the streets today.
Meese has signed to Atlantic Records, you can find them in KOARs New Music column.
The President of CD Baby talks about the failed relationship with SnoCap. Its a must read. CD Baby made a total of $1080 in the course of 8 months.
My Getaway will be performing 10/30 in NYC at the ANNEX at 7pm. The central Florida based pop punk band is the BMI Artist of the month for October. The band recorded with producer Marc McClusky (Powerspace, Hit The Lights, Ludo).
Comcast blocks some internet traffic: Comcast actively interferes with attempts by some of its high-speed internet subscribers to share files online, a move that runs counter to the tradition of treating all types of Net traffic equally. If widely applied by other ISPs, the technology Comcast is using would be a crippling blow to the BitTorrent, eDonkey and Gnutella file-sharing networks. Could this be the beginning of the end of file sharing?
Meese entered our list of Top Unsigned bands back in June. Great band and great guys!

New Say Anything out today soon. Wonder how it will do. They’ve gotten much promotion through myspace, especially from that myspace music tour they’re co headlining..

Hey KOAR. You should check out Rescue Signals.
In only 3 months together and 2 months officially active we’ve:
- Got online traffic to accumulate about 1,000 plays per day on Myspace.com and has already recieved 14,000 friend requests through word of mouth!
- 2nd rated PowerPop group in Texas according to the Myspace top artist section.
- Will have two songs (one which is the title/main track) in the 2008 film Ready or Not

Ive been following my getaway for a long time and they were always had decent songs and owned live. But this new song is incredible by far the most marketable song ive heard in a long time! good luck mga!

Beau, your band sucks real bad.
Comment by Jon Cole — October 23, 2007 @ 4:39 pm
Beau, which MySpace bot got you all those friends? It certainly isnt the music and word of mouth.

Note to all bands: Folks no longer buy into the myspace hype. Your # of plays is pretty much worthless. Just ask Tila Tequila.
I mean, that is… unless you’re just out for a tacky dating show on mtv.
Good songs: Plan A, not Plan B.

my getaway owns, someone needs to sign them already!

Cmon, guys, lets be encouraging. Rather than saying a band sucks, how about constructive criticism? lets spread positivity and hope!

Rescue Signals!
Cant Let Go has potential. Its a decent chorus - you would benefit from a producer. Hire someone to help you to put together songs. Make sure its a producer and NOT an engineer! You guys have a good sense of melody which is a good because artists who dont have a concept of melody wont make it.
Comment by lilly — October 23, 2007 @ 5:21 pm
You guys are such girls. This band has a song that starts “Your eyes are like a suicide.” It’s important not to skim over such things. These guys just want to be stars. That’s part of what’s wrong with music today.
Some bands have it. Other bands don’t. Rescue Signals doesn’t. If you wanna be some producer’s monkey boys, whatever. It’s your choice. Obviously you have no problem playing cheese ball, auto-tuned bullshit pop. So have some big dollar producer rearrange your songs, sync up your parts, & put your vocals in key. You might even get a record deal. But just know that that’s completely pathetic.

“Your eyes are like a suicide.”
That’s hilarious. Why not incorporate a “cut my wrist and bleed for you” or “stab my heart, that’s how much i love you” line into the next song?

But Jon, label’s are still buying into the MySpace hype IF they can see that it’s genuine (read: backed up by great songs), see Colbie Callait, One Republic or Making April.
Comment by anonymous — October 24, 2007 @ 2:34 am
colbie sold an ass-load of records; not hype anymore now that it is backed up; although i agree MOST myspace stuff is hype. one republic has a hit song right now; yet again not hype. and finally, i will not even enter into the mix whether or not i like this rescue signals band, but learning in this industry is hard enough as it is. im sure most of everyones freshman efforts sucked ass; im embarassed of mine. but everyone needs that clunker to start to get to who they really are musically….. so cut the guys some slack.
Comment by brandon — October 24, 2007 @ 5:44 am
Brandon, that’s why you dont post your freshmen efforts on an industry site. You first develop your act, get your shit together, and THEN try to get everyone’s attention.
You got 1 shot. Not more. Just 1. Dont mess it up!

Slack? No way, Jose. He put himself out there.
If you want to play crappy music, go for it. You don’t have to be good to love playing music. I support that completely. Just do it in your bedroom. Or in your garage. Or at some shitty all-ages venue. For the love of god, don’t do it at Guitar Center. And certainly don’t ask me to listen, even if it’s indirectly through KOAR.
If “Beau Bretz” (what a ridiculous fictitious name) is ever going to get better, he’s going to realize that he sucks & has a long way to go.
Egos need to be deflated.
He’ll thank me in the long run.

Yeah, not cool to rip bands, especially unsigned bands.
Comment by Tim Towner — October 24, 2007 @ 6:51 am
people bitch and moan all the time how no one can seem to find anyone who can write a song that resonates with listeners; maybe that might be because NO ONE takes the time to develop people’s skills. When I first got started making serious records, I got ripped by a real pro who did it in the spirit of making me rise to the occasion… not beat me down to the point that I never put myself out there again.
Comment by brandon — October 24, 2007 @ 7:27 am
There’s a difference, Brandon (and Tim, for that matter), between someone who’s trying to write great songs & someone who’s trying desperately to become a pop star. If you’re spending your time working on the songs or learning to sing on pitch, I’m going to be a lot more forgiving. But these guys are just whoring themselves out on myspace… “Look at me! I changed my name & I have 1000 plays per day! Quick! Someone take a photo of me! I love it when people take photos of me! Look at all of my poses!”
Maybe part of the reason no one can seem to find anyone who can write a song that resonates with listeners is because well intentioned “industry types” are out there trying to polish turds. An eager beaver with a “good look” does not make for a worthwhile musical act. Believe it.
Maybe music just needs to be taken more seriously.
Comment by Jon Cole — October 24, 2007 @ 7:48 am
Haha you guys are all funny. Maybe you should all seach my back ground before calling me a “”beginner” who can’t take insults. You might find a slightly differen answer. It’s ok Brandon, You don’t need to defend me, the majority of the people on this site will be like that regardless. Thanks brother. lol.
Beau
P.S. — Beau Bretz is my birth name — to the idiot who called it ficticious. Wow. I hear about twice as many assumptions than actual facts.
Comment by Beau Bretz — October 24, 2007 @ 8:54 am
I apologize for mistaking your birth name for a stage name, Beau. My bad.
Comment by Jon Cole — October 24, 2007 @ 9:42 am
It’s cool brother.
I’m not really worried about it.
I appreciate honest opinions.
That’s why I put it out there. To get opinions.
Hope you’re having a good day brother.
