So after posting that we were searching for a vocalist that has a wider range than almost any other rock vocalist- we received hundreds of emails and tips. Of course most fell short but we did get one tip from a San Diego band called Dirty Sweet. Listen to the track Long Line Down and let us know what you think.
We did a brief search on the band and found that the group went on to win San Diego Music Awards ‘Best Rock’ act TWICE and “Best Rock Album”. But what prevented the band from breaking out? Probably the lack of commercial songs, although the band has received good press in the UK. Their debut record ‘”…Of Monarchs and Beggars” was produced and engineered by the band themselves, which was probably not a good idea. When an artist produces and directs his own art, objectivity is usually lost, which is why we always suggest finding a really great producer.
We still want better because we are hard to please. This is the entertainment business, we need the best. Remember, there is room at the top!

he has a good voice – its their best song too. Should go back into the studio and write more material. They need more of these songs, but maybe a little more up-tempo. They have a classic rock feel!!
That dude should audition for Idol – he has more of an authentic voice than Bo Bice, not as good as Daughtry though. Daughtry has a wider range.
I can’t remember if you guys have posted about them in the past or not but http://www.myspace.com/thefeds they are probably my fav regional band. Talk about rockstars!
Once again, the FEDS never had a breakout song or at least yet. The FEDS were on the tip of several major music labels. They are good band but never wrote that BIG SONG!
myspace.com/lifeinelectric great band – looks like KTCL will be adding the song, the same station that broke flobots!
So hook them up with a great producer or songwriter if they don’t have that “BIG SONG!” They have balls to the wall attitude and can play their instruments. Labels sign “artists” with way less to work with all of the time. If there was ever a band worth developing it would be them.
Song. Is. King.
No question the hardest part of the equation to master, especially if bands members are naturally gifted with musical abilities.

Dirty Sweet, not bad, just listen to the tune “Delila”
maybe these guys should talk to a Nashville producer
The Aushua singer is a dead ringer for someone, but I can’t put my finger on it. Travis, maybe? Good, but nothing new.
I really dig Dirty Sweet’s style, but I agree that they don’t have the songs. Goldensole is a bit Black Crowes, but a great track, all the same, with a lot of groove. And I dig Long Line Down. The rest I could take or leave.
What you’re looking for is Moonlight Revival or Tellin’ Lies by Ponderosa
(disclose: my band, I’m biased)
Thanks for recommending our song last week. That was very nice of you all:)
