I had another thought about the painting thing during a concert. Most bands want their audience to watch them. I would probably watch the guy painting and just listen to the band. I mean my main focus would be on the painter. in a setting like that. It is probably going to end up being unprofitable for them to keep that up.

Actually, Tool has already done such art in the past. I believe it was with the artist, Alex Grey.

I wasn't commenting on their music. The painting angle comes off as "gimmicky"...

this is without reading the actual article....

Once I read the article though.. it definitely clarified things.

...but what? Cloud Cult's music is a hell of a lot more interesting than any of the other artists mentioned in today's post.

I mean, the real reason Ashlee's album is tanking is that everyone's realized she's a talenless hack. The only reason Canada's looking for their own Miley is because she's a commodity, not an artist. Social Code? Interchangeable with about 100 other bands that will be forgotten two years after their US debut.

I'm not even a Cloud Cult fan, per se, but I managed to see a live show of theirs last year and can speak to their ability to captivate large audiences in a live setting with music that actually sounds created, as opposed to fabricated by some hack studio whiz.

I like the band alot. They seem like a Christian Band. Which is a really good thing. However they spent way too much on their cd's. I hope they don't get stung on that . But why don't thye hand paint on t-shirts so everyone can walk out with a hand painted t-shirt at the end of the concert, instead of just one person getting some huge painting that only benefits one person. too gimmicky.
