Keep The Mood By Empires
Right Time By Negative Space

I completely agree with the Empires song pick. I fell in love with that band with that song. Their new song I Want Blood is really good, too.
Where’s the hook in ‘Keep The Mood’? It goes nowhere…Good band, but the best track is clearly ‘Valmont’
The hook in “Keep The Mood” is the song. The sparseness with just the piano in spots, the hypnotic nature of the steady drum track, good vocals, sung well, that’s the hook. “Valmont” is a great track as well. “Keep The Mood” doesn’t need to “go anywhere” it’s already there.
I like how Empires is very forward thinking and is giving their new album away for free. The reality is that the death of traditional record labels is imminent. Major labels have continually exploited almost every underground genre imaginable. Now they should change their business model and focus more on nurturing a lot of acts instead of looking for the big quick fix pay-off right now.
