Recommended Show: Negative Space is performing in NYC at Crash Mansion Thursday July 17th. For fans of mainstream rock bands including Breaking Benjamin, Saliva, and Seether. Listen to the track Right Now.
Amazon MP3 Store: Sources claim that Amazon may have 4% to 5% of the U.S. digital music market which would result in 27 million tracks being sold so far this year. Apple would have sold 1 billion tracks in the same period.

Buzzing: Rock band Settings, a KOAR favorite, has posted a video for the track Creatures on their myspace. The band recently appeared on MTV’s TRL, lead singer Donny Evans is a legitimate frontman and the band is moving closer to a breakout song.
Idol News: Daughtry is in the studio writing recording his sophomore album and once again he will be writing with the same songwriters that worked on his debut. He will be working with Dave Basset (Shinedown) and Tommy Heriksen (Revis), Mitch Allan (All These Lives), David Hodges and Ben Moody (What About Now), Brian Howes (What I Want, Over You), Ryan Tedder (One Republic),and Emerson Hart (Tonic).
EMI - Corporate Accounting: An internal e-mail from Guy Hands that was sent to his staff described a rosier path for EMI. “Mr Hands said revenue from the recorded music division rose 61 per cent to £288.1m ($574.8m) in the three months to the end of June.” Basically, firing employees spiked short term revenue, but what about next year?
My five year old could write a hit with that many pros helping him. If you need EIGHT established songwriters to come up with TEN to TWELVE songs for your disc, you shouldn’t have a deal (unless your voice is outrageously good - his isn’t). Another manufactured star. Lucky for him he’s pretty.

jalan, stop being a hater. Your 5 year old cant sing and secondly if you don’t think Daughtry can sing, you must be tone deaf.
Daughtry can sing just about anything and he can sing LIVE.
also, Daughtry writes most of his songs with the guidance of the most talented people in the biz. If your going to trash Daughtry for opening himself for additional songwriters, then you must not like the multitude of classic rock bands who wrote with people outside of their band.
Also, having a great a voice is just a small part of the equation.

I think Jalan is referring to Settings, not Daughtry.

Jalan: If your 5 year old could write a hit, what are you waiting for buddy? Do it or shut it.

No, I was referring to Daughtry.
I am not saying — and never said — Daughtry can’t sing. He’s decent enough, but he’s clearly not a phenomenal vocal talent, like Mariah Carey or Jeff Buckley or whoever.
And to me, there’s a BIG difference between opening yourself to other songwriters and needing their “guidance” (your term, not mine) — it’s the same difference between being able to fix your own car vs. needing the ‘guidance’ of a mechanic.
Lastly, how do you know my 5 year old can’t sing? Actually, he can’t, but I never said that he could — only that he could write a hit with that much help (which was kinda the whole point).
I’m old school and know I’m alone on this and that’s fine. Just adding my two cents.
