“Virgin Megastores announced today that it will mark the closing of its iconic Times Square store with the biggest sale in music retail history. The staff at the Times Square Virgin Megastore has been working around the clock to prepare for this major event, which will begin February 19, 2009.”
“This sale will give our loyal shoppers one last chance to browse the world’s largest music store,” said Simon Wright, CEO, Virgin Entertainment Group. “We’ll be offering discount prices on items that might be difficult to find in the days to come, and we hope our customers have a lot of fun shopping this final sale.”
Nothing lasts forever……..

Anyone know if the Downtown Disney location will stay open? Sad times
This sucks. I hope they keep the one here in Hollywood. Too iconic to go away. Just a couple years ago, Los Angeles had TWO Virgin Megastores — one on Sunset and one on Hollywood. They closed the Sunset location, but if they also close the Hollywood one, I’m going to be pissed.
Wow, that’s quite a statement… shame too.
(But I also wish I could stop by for some bargains!)
Sorry to roam off-topic, but since KOAR now seems to be preventing comments on bands that (they apparently know) are terrible, let me state here that both AllStar and Aerodrone are… well… terrible.
I thought the point of having your own A&R blog — where you don’t have to worry about keeping your job at the label or gambling all your money to break an artist — was to make some really interesting and ambitious picks, not cheeseball gimmick rock or Disney-fodder?
Of course, I also thought one of the benefits of having a blog in general was to be able to interact with visitors and share opinions. Shows what I know…
I’m with you Jalan. KOAR sure is puzzling with some of the “artists” they post. Jon Cole must be on Vaca or something.
Just our of curiousity what was your take on Shawn Fisher and the J—s? I thought it was real good and a refreshing choice for KOAR.
Yeah, what is all your take on shawn fisher? Me thinks he really really good. One of KOARs best picks. No doubt that KOAR is puzzling with their artist picks.
First they trash the jonas brothers, then put post something that is similiar to those pop tarts.
Regardless, I’m glad that they are posting more artists this year, whether good or bad, I like being in the know who these anr queers are listening to at the moment.
I haven’t heard Beatles ‘Imagine’ yet!!!!
Jalan —- I think you answered your own question. They disabled the comments on certain artists that are most likely to be HATED upon. Dean Cramer isn’t that stupid, he knows the difference between good and not-so-good.
You were probably pissed that you couldn’t hate on allstar, well…me too. So we can trash them here!!!!
Say what you want about allstar, but the first track on their myspace is catchy as heck.
Just because some are not a fan of the pop genre doesn’t mean it needs to be trashed.
I like some pop. I like clarkson and taylor swift.
