What artist sells over a million records in 2 weeks? That would be 47 year old Susan Boyle. She had another successful week selling over 500,000 copies of her CD “I Dreamed A Dream”.
Next in line are the usual suspects such as Taylor Swift who sold another 127,226 copies of Fearless which is approaching the 5 million mark. Lady Gaga sold 83,550k copies of Fame and she also set a 2009 digital sales record selling over 13million tracks. Yes, artists can survive in the digital world, you just need to be great.

If you wonder just how impressive Susan Boyles album sales are, here is an instructive comparison: Last month, Barbra Streisand got her ninth No. 1 album when her 63rd studio recording, Love Is the Answer, debuted on top of the pop chart: It sold 180,000 copies on its first week.
Susan Boyle vanquished all competition when I Dreamed A Dream took the top spot of the Billboard 200, with 701,000 copies sold—the biggest one-week sales total of the year, and the highest debut ever for a solo female artist in the Soundscan era!
As much as I want to dislike LADY GAGA for her over the top trying to hard stuff, I can’t deny she has an amazing voice, a lot of talent and creativity. Not my thing in terms of sleaze, but just listening to her, and her songs from before she became “Lady GaGa”, there is NO doubt, she truly is a talented singer, and musician. Excellent on the piano and guitar too.
