This Week Sales – Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum sold 480,922 copies of Need You Now. In fact, Need You Now is a great song and it has the same vibe, same key as Alan Parsons Eye In The Sky.

Need You Now (50 second mark) Eye in The Sky (1:27 mark). This is far from plagiarism, it’s just a powerful hook and melody line. This is why it’s a #1 song. We need more of this…

Speaking of Alan Parsons, does anybody remember him? He engineered Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon.

This is an excellent song. All those minor chords really tug on the heart strings. What would you guys think if a rock band covered this song..? “Rock Band” meaning Daughtry style…

  7. koar says:

what song are you referring to? Need You Now or Eye in the Sky?

  8. Mike says:

    ha, Sorry… “Need You Now”

How is it not plagiarism again? Just because the industry is going down the toilet and they’re selling records? I’d like to hear you expound on that a little.

If you’re advocating taking pop hooks from the 70’s & turning them into faux-country pop songs, I’m not totally sure I can get behind that. If that becomes the new trend, the next generation is going to be that much further removed from real songwriting. And choruses are going to begin hitting 15 seconds in.
