Is Lady Gaga the new Madonna?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

This is Sade’s second week with the #1 record on the Billboard Album Charts. Her new album “Soldier Of Love sold 126,629 copies. Country act Lady Antebellum is sitting at #2 selling 118,041 copies of
Need You Know.

Lady Gaga sold 48,000 copies records of FAME with a tally of 2,900,000.

Even though I really like Gaga, let’s see if she has staying power. She  nailed it on these two albums, great tracks and great lyrics! Regardless, Madonna sold 26,500,000 million albums (probably many millions more because most of the bigger albums pre-date soundscan) and almost 12,000,000 singles and over a million videos….

Madonna created a generational clothing / hair / dance / sexual movement that was massive . She had every female teenager dressing and acting like her once Lucky Star hit the clubs/airwaves, all they way through to Like A Virgin and Like a Prayer, well past the Erotica release…

I back Lady Gaga, but is she the new Madonna? Or is she just Lady Gaga pushing similar buttons with her own little twist, let’s see if she can keep it up for 2 decades, or at least a decade….
